IUBMB Enzyme Nomenclature

Accepted name: D-alanine γ-glutamyltransferase

Reaction: L-glutamine + D-alanine = NH3 + γ-L-glutamyl-D-alanine

Systematic name: L-glutamine:D-alanine γ-glutamyltransferase

Comments: D-Phenylalanine and D-2-aminobutyrate can also act as acceptors, but more slowly. The enzyme also catalyses some of the reactions of EC (γ-glutamyltransferase).
