IUBMB Enzyme Nomenclature

Accepted name: lipopolysaccharide glucosyltransferase II

Reaction: UDP-glucose + lipopolysaccharide = UDP + α-D-glucosyl-lipopolysaccharide

Other name(s): uridine diphosphoglucose-galactosylpolysaccharide glucosyltransferase

Systematic name: UDP-glucose:galactosyl-lipopolysaccharide α-D-glucosyltransferase

Comments: Transfers glucosyl residues to the D-galactosyl-D-glucosyl side-chains in the partially completed core of lipopolysaccharides. cf. EC (lipopolysaccharide 3-α-galactosyltransferase), EC (lipopolysaccharide N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase) and EC (lipopolysaccharide glucosyltransferase I).
