Accepted name: butyrate kinase

Reaction: ATP + butanoate = ADP + butanoyl phosphate

Systematic name: ATP:butanoate 1-phosphotransferase

Comments: The enzyme from Clostridium sp. also acts, more slowly, on pentanoate and propanoate, and on some branched-chain fatty acids (cf. EC sedoheptulokinase).
